When moving an existing WhatsApp number to Buktor, back up your chats and media before deleting your current WhatsApp account. Deleting the account will permanently remove chats, media, and backups.
Buktor provides secure cloud storage so your previous WhatsApp data can be preserved during the transition.
Before You Start
- Watch the WhatsApp backup guide video if you need a walkthrough.
- Keep a copy of your 64-character encryption key.
- If the encryption key is lost, the backup cannot be restored.
Step 1: Back Up Your WhatsApp Data
Create a full WhatsApp backup first.
Step 2: Locate the Database File
After the backup is complete, go to:
Internal storage/Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Databases/msgstore.db.crypt15
Copy the msgstore.db.crypt15 file.
Step 3: Back Up Media Files
Go to:
Internal storage/Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Media
Copy all files and folders in that directory, then zip them.
Step 4: Share the Backup Files
Send the following items to complete the migration:
- The zipped media folder
- The
msgstore.db.crypt15file - The 64-character encryption key
Important Notes
- Do not delete the WhatsApp account until the backup is complete.
- Keep the encryption key stored securely.
- Make sure the shared files are complete before sending them to Buktor.
